Let me start by saying that I love our X-Factor program. I can honestly say that there is not a program here at Reality Check, Inc. that I don't enjoy teaching. I really enjoy my high school classes because we can get real and the questions aren't surface. I like junior high because they are intrigued and not so shell shocked. Middle school kids are so fun because they are moldable and hilarious.
X-Factor Games is a program we offer to our 8th graders. It's a five day program where we incorporate games to teach the lessons. It's great. There is a team of instructors that help too. The kids love it and it seems to really sink in too. Sara Wood is our Queen of X-Factor, in my opinion. She has taught me so much.
This past week we finished up with X-Factor at Oakdale in Rogers. Coach Lee was in the class and I taught 7th hour. It was by far the best class I've taught in X-Factor. They were so fun yet respectful.
I'm writing this blog for two reasons: one, to brag on X-Factor and two, to brag on Coach Lee at Oakdale. Now, not necessarily just Coach Lee but I'm using her as an example. She is always involved in her classes and it makes all the difference. She has fun, is engaged and thus engages the students. When a teacher or coach chooses to get involved, it enhances the class so much. So, thanks to all our teachers who get involved and demand respect in their classrooms. You don't go unnoticed. You are appreciated.
In closing, here is a card from one of the students in our class this week. "One thing I enjoyed was this class wasn't all about sex. You did warn me what scary things could happen, but you helped me with my character. I heard the word "integrity" a lot this week, and you have really helped me become or try to become an honorable person."
